Draft That Boy (1904)

Summary:

Naughty boys seem to have been favourite characters in early cinema, with their anarchic antics creating havoc and inviting retribution from adults - and presumably appealing to the children who formed a large part of the audience. Here a boy being supervised by his grandmother sees a chance for mischief with what is essentially an escalation of the Lumieres' original watering hose gag, as the grandmother peers into the stovepipe. But here it is the boy who has the last laugh!
